but i miss this little bug SO MUCH!

big news.

yesterday during the NFC conference finals

i started freaking out when the vikings scored first

{i am a saints supporter...and a kim k supporter}

so i put on this fleur de lis necklace as a little talisman of support.

it worked, clearly.

after that insane game, the girls and i celebrated over a sushi dinner and jokingly looked up flights to miami on our phones, planning our fake trip to see the saints in their first super bowl.

today, i got to the office, and was met with the news that my amazing boss is sending me there.

i am going to the superbowl.

yes my job has perks.

yes this is the greatest perk of all time.

yes i will be taking 1000 pictures.

whoa.

the state of my life right now.

a defining characteristic of my life would be the phrase:
easily-sprained ankles.

i have done ligament damage the following ways, since age 14:

• playing basketball.
• playing volleyball.
• goofing off on the sidelines of a volleyball tournament, thus falling into another game's court and halting play.
• taking my dog outside to pee.
  
• crossing a picket line at a grocery store, crumpling to the ground and forcing the picketers stop and help me {their former enemy}. incidentally, this was also on halloween, so my roommate spent an interesting night in the waiting room of the san diego kaiser ER with vampires and slutty princesses.
• walking. i literally took a bad step on my way to a biology class in college, bailed, FAINTED, and forced the ucsd campus helper people in a cart to come bring me to student health. then spent 3 weeks on crutches on a 2000 acre campus of hills.
• walking again. this time in london right before going on a backpacking trip in spain.
• THE LIST GOES ON.

so, this week, while attempting to WALK into my office, i slipped on a wet sidewalk in the rain {stormy week, as you know} and hurt my right ankle. i now dress like a soccer mom and wear running shoes with jeans to work.

upside: my collection of ankle braces and air casts is seeing some time in the world.

thank you, life.

this is our depressing forecast for the week:

thankfully i have a cute polka-dot umbrella to hide behind!

wishing we currently were in june.

misha came over last night to discuss our impending vacation {or, as we like to loudly squeal, "trip of a lifetime!"} to greece. as we browsed amazing hotels, ferry schedules and photos of the acropolis and the islands...we just about died.

our conversations kept getting more ridiculous, from feta cheese to clubs in mykonos to sunsets from the caldera. as we got more and more excited, we decided to add on istanbul at the end {i believe the actual reasoning went something along the lines of "what's a few hundred dollars, and why wouldn't you blow all of your vacation days at once??"}.

have any of you had the joy of traveling to greece or turkey? any tips to impart? i've read maggie mason's awesome account and my frommers guide has earmarked pages already. i'd love any wisdom you have.

{i would also love the next 5 months to hurry up already.}

so a video chat was beyond all amazingness.

clearly the puppy wasn't all that interested, but i just about died.
i want a dog soooo desperately.

i recently went to alcatraz

with my fam {and the fun cousins!}

it's just a quick boat ride from the city,

and i hadn't been there since i was 10 years old.

the island is so cool, kinda creepy, and full of interesting burned-out buildings.

the weirdest fact from our tour:

on new year's eve the inmates could hear women laughing

and people celebrating from the parties across the bay. crazy!

i finally watched up this weekend,

which i've been dying to do!

attempt #1 came on friday night, post-warriors game.

i started crying 20 mins in {it's SAD!}, cody fell asleep.

attempt #2 came on saturday night, with kelly stew.

this time i cried just as hard,

but we stayed awake the whole time.

and LOVED it.

we got ourselves out of bed nice and early

and then spent the day hopping around the marina watching football.

hope you had a happy start to 2010! i've enjoyed these first few days more than anything in recent memory, so i can tell it will be a year of love and laughter.
