on saturday a few of my favorite ladies and i journeyed across the golden gate and through the winding trees and greenery of marin. our destination was the wildflower field over drakes bay, which is a breathtaking sight to behold.

favorite place no. 11 : crissy field.

it's been awhile since i'd done a new "favorite" post,

but crissy field is just the right inspiration.

for the lovely stina's birthday, we had a picnic {that's us above!} right at the base of the golden gate bridge, complete with pink champagne and red velvet cupcakes.

it helped to have a warm, delicious day for bocce ball and plenty of lounging.

and check out the view back toward downtown...heaven.

texas rodeo.

i learned that in houston, the rodeo is not JUST a rodeo.

it involves concerts, livestock, carnival rides, games, food...

...really, really BIG food.

we were lucky enough to visit on a perfect day.

today i purchased this jessica simpson dress from the ideeli sale {don't judge, she actually has really cute stuff, especially shoes!}...$49 on sale from $128? yes please! i figure i can wear it to one of the many bridal/baby showers i'll be attending this spring.

tonight, right before she went to bed, my 2 year old niece was hugging me and reached out for my mom {her gma} and mumbled happily, "my whole family is all together."

on saturday i met the lovely holly, a blog reader and sf-dweller like me. she needed some headshots for her website, so we wandered around north beach and found some fun backdrops for her.

so on sunday, we headed to the oh-so-cute cafe de la presse
for some croque monsieur and enormous lattes.

seriously, they were like soup bowls! mmm. and the food was so, so delish. can't wait to go back.

on sunday afternoon, the sun was blindingly amazing and it was the warmest day in months. i took my blanket and book to the park to lay down amongst the daisies.

could not have been more beautiful. san francisco is such a delight!

one thing nicole always told us in photo class was to photograph our set-ups and keep our test shots. that way, later on, we could go back and look at how we created an image or lighting pattern.

i was looking back at a portrait "beauty lighting" assignment because a friend asked me to take some pictures this weekend, and i cracked up at my test shots.

i had to use the only thing around that was remotely person-like, my ucsd bear, as my test model:

i have about 20 pictures of him, slumped over and lit in different ways. excellent. but omar is handsome, isn't he?

everyone loves a creative blog, right?

this one is called new dress a day, and it features a genius, crafty, seamstress gal taking cheap {and usually hideous} thrift store finds and turning them into one-of-a-kind amazingness.

she has given herself $365 for the year, and will ONLY buy used.

random thoughts from a lazy blogger.

i am surprisingly bummed that the olympics are over. i normally don't get too jazzed about the winter games, but this year i felt the spirit to the point that i was routinely weeping at the human interest stories and/or screaming at the tv.

tonight's bachelor finale is hitting USA-Canada levels of excitement. and pretty sure our nation is once again standing united against our opponent {vienna = crosby with blonde extensions}.

mariah was OUT OF CONTROL. she can't move in her tight outfits and 6" heels, her dancers struggle to lift her in the air as the "choreography" requires, and she bitches at the band and her staff throughout the show. this, friends, was entertainment. she still sounds great though.

the following image of my "recent calls" will indicate just how determined roomie and i were to get la canasta tonight. yes, they have 2 numbers, and no, we would not accept defeat.
